This Privacy Policy describes how Owl AI, Inc. ("Owl AI," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information in connection with the Owl AI applications and websites that link to this Policy (collectively, the "Service"), available at owl.ai and its related subdomains. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to information we process when you use the Service. The Service is intended for business customers and is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide Through Google Sign-In

The Service uses Google's OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication through the Google Auth Platform to create and secure your account. When you sign in with Google, we request the following OAuth scopes:

  • openid - a unique identifier that authenticates your Google Account.
  • profile - basic profile information such as your name and profile picture.
  • email - your email address.

We use this information solely to authenticate you and to create and maintain your account. We do not request access to your Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, contacts, or any other Google data.

3.2 Content You Generate

Certain features of the Service let you generate content, such as research summaries, reports, and related outputs, based on inputs you choose to provide. The inputs you provide and the resulting generated content are associated with your account and stored as part of your use of the Service.

3.3 Information We Do Not Collect

Beyond the authentication information described above and the content you generate within the Service, we do not collect additional categories of personal information from you in connection with sign-in (for example, we do not separately collect device identifiers or location data as part of the login process).

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Authenticate you and provide secure access to your account;
  • Create, maintain, and administer your account;
  • Provide, operate, and support the features of the Service;
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support; and
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Service and comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use the information we receive from Google sign-in for advertising purposes.

5. Google API Services and Limited Use

The Service's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide and improve the authentication functionality described in this Policy, and we do not transfer or sell this data to third parties except as required to operate the Service or as required by law.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your personal information for advertising purposes. We do not disclose your personal information to third parties for their own use. We may disclose information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Legal requirements. When we believe disclosure is required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Protection of rights. When necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Owl AI, our users, or others, including to enforce our agreements.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this Policy or notify you of any material changes.

7. Data Storage and Retention

We store information on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure located in the us-central1 region (United States). We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account, we delete the associated personal information, subject to limited retention where required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Choices and Rights

9.1 Account Deletion

You can delete your account and associated data at any time through the account deletion flow available in the Service. Upon deletion, we remove your personal information as described in Section 7.

9.2 Regional Privacy Rights

Depending on where you reside, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, including the rights to access, correct, delete, or port your information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To the extent the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), or similar laws apply to you, we will honor the rights granted under those laws. You may exercise these rights by contacting us at privacy@owl.ai. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

For users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing are the performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service), your consent (where applicable), and our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service. Where we transfer data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

10. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
